Noyes Multimode Test Set (MLP 4-2)

The Noyes MLP4-2 test kit combines the OPM4-2D optical power meter and OLS1-Dual LED light source and is ideally suited for testing multimode fiber optic networks.

The OLS1-Dual features 850 nm and 1300 nm LED output from a single output port and is easy to operate with only a power button and a wavelength select button. The LED output is stabilized to ensure accurate test results per current TIA/EIA requirements. This light source offers 3 modes of operation: Dual wavelengths sending ID, single wavelength sending ID, and CW. [Active Output], [Battery], and [External Power] indicators identify the currently enabled operating mode, battery charge status, and external power presence. The output port is equipped with a removable SC (FC & ST available) adapter to allow the output connector to be inspected and cleaned.

The OPM4-2D offers Wave ID, automatic wavelength identification and switching, when used with the OLS1-Dual. Multiple test Tone detection is provided for fiber identification. The OPM4-2D stores optical references for each calibrated wavelength. An easy to read Dual Wavelength LCD display with Backlight shows measured power [dBm or μW] or insertion loss [dB], calibrated wavelengths, tone signal [Hz], wavelength ID, and the battery charge status.

In addition to being powered by two AA alkaline, the OPM4-2D or OLS1-Dual can be powered by optional AC adapter and/or rechargeable NiMH battery pack.

The OPM4-2D optical input port accepts Noyes thread-on style adapter caps. Adapter caps are required for operation and must be ordered separately.

The OPM4-2D and OLS1-Dual are fully N.I.S.T. traceable.

Knowledgebase: Noyes' MLP 4-2 with reference feature is a complete multimode test kit for fiber optic LANs and WANs. The included OPM4-2C optical power meter, OLS1-2 LED optical light source and ST adaptor cap offer accurate fiber optic testing at an affordable price. Used during installation, maintenance or repair, the MLP 4-2 performs end-to-end loss measurements on multimode fiber at 850 and 1300 nm as well as singlemode fiber at 1300 nm. The auto zero feature stores reference values at each wavelength for direct loss readings in dB. Compact and easy-to-use Model OPM4-2C is a full-featured palm-sized optical power meter that provide years of accurate measurements. It is calibrated at 850, 1300, 1310 and 1550 nm for testing LAN, FDDI, Ethernet, Token Ring and singlemode fiber systems such as telco, WAN and CATV. Front panel keys turn the meter on and off, switch between power (dBm) and loss (dB) modes, view/set reference and change the measurement wavelength. A reference value can be set for each wavelength and is saved in memory. Turning the OPM4-2C on and off, changing wavelengths, switching between dBm and dB and even replacing the battery do not affect stored references. Specifications include: Germanium detector and +6 to -60 dBm measurement range. The OLS1-2 is an LED optical light source designed for loss testing on multimode fibers. It offers reliable testing at 850 or 1300 nm for use on LAN, WAN and campus-type environments, Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI systems. Also use 1300-nm output to test short-distance singlemode fiber links up to 20 km. Specifications include: 40/100-nm spectral width, 850 and 1300 wavelengths, -20/-20 dBm output power and 62.5/125-um fiber size. Set includes ST connectors, protective rubber boots, 9-volt battery, a durable foam-filled carrying case, kit instructions and instruction cards. The MLP 4-2 weighs 1.7 pounds and measures 8.5" x 8" x 3.5". One-year warranty.

The FLS-300 or FOT-300 units can transmit with a wavelength-identification digital encrypted protocol, enabling the FPM-300 Power Meter to automatically use the proper calibration parameters.
